TO THE ELECTORS of WAIRARAPA SOUTH. rfiNTLEMEN,-
uU As a working settler of twenty rears, standing, I respectfully offer myself as <i candidate to represent you in the new Parliament. , Without wishing to raise any class erf, I may state that in .my opinion the time has arrived when all;.classes of settlers should bo represented. Hitherto the small holders of property have not hid their aharo of ropresentation. In my long and intimate acquaintance with the, working of tholawa under which wo lire, it has caused me often to feel that such a state of things ought not to exist, It is really no rise our burking this question; all feel that a change ia necessary. The large holders already have their representative,- and .we aro entitled to ours.
Although not altogether in favor of many actions of the present Government, yet believing (is I do that unflinching economy is still necessary in the administration of reserving to myself the; right to vote for whatever I consider to be for the benefit of the peoDlo and tho advancement of the colony generally. '^_ — r With oxtended poweis,-'P County Councils, in Highway Boards, are.oapable of nmoh Council comprised of ; our 'fellow-settlers must necessarily be, better acquainted with our requirements and the management ef local affitirs than a Government official located at Wellington. - J
The generous amount of Bnpportjpromiaed to ma. wherever 1 have made my views, known has encouraged me, to askforjhe honor of' representing you. I ownnpno personal feeling in the coutest;,- but simply an honorable ambition to servo my fellowsettlers. . ~ .. ■ I hopo to meet yoa at ; the various towns throughout South Wairarapa, and will then, morejfally explainjmy.pojitioal creed, \ / ... ~, Yours faithfully, lll''l21::Z MRTON BOYS. : .(faratahi, September 28,1581.
