THE WAIRARAPA VOLUTEERS IN WELLINGTON.

[FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Wednesday.

I understand that your Groytown correspondent has supplied yon'with nil details up to our arriving in Wellington, i o I will continue the story from that .point. The Mastertou Band piayed us 'up to the Mount Cook barracks mid acquitted thcinselves most creditably, the popular opinion being that thoy were equal to any band that has performed in the Empire City. Yesterday morning the "Wnirai-apa contingent were paraded in the A.C. diill square- aid tho men examined by Assistant Surgeon Diver of the Welhnjon Nttvuls. They all passed umster with tho exception ot one mini ol tho Carterton Killes, who was rejected much to his disgust, 'the men wero then marched 10 the Government Store and served out with a freo kit, consisting of a tunic, trousers, pair of bliiikels, haversack, great coat, and cap; leggings, hoots, and water-proof-sheet will be given them at Upunako. At S.bO p.m. there was an Inspection Parade at tho l>rdl Shed on 1 p.nibion Quay. Detachments from the following Corps were present: City liiiles. Wellington Guards, Wellington Torpedoes (they must excuse their full mililary title as it is too long for any white mini)' Wiiirarapa Ititles, MnkaraJlillcs and the Wellington Navals, Tho Wfiirarapii Company was by far the largest present, there being 84 men of all ranks pveseni, ami ihc authorities paid them the compliment of saying that they were the finest lot of men that had assembled in V. ellington since the order to proceed-to the from hail been given. The Company reached from one sido of tho drill shed to tho oilier .and were freely criticized by tho spectators, who were present in largo numbers, and their remarks were most flattering. The whole of the men wero inspected bv Captaiu Crowe and ordered to hold "themselves in readiness to embark on the "Hinemoa" at i p.m. to-day. The Wairarapaboys had a small mste of wlim is in store for them, us they had to march from the barracks lo the'drill shed and back in full war paint with blankets, coat, and equipment, all done up in Victorian digger fashion over their shoulders. The three Wairarapa Companies will he amalgamated in one under the command of Captain Kuck. Oulor Serjeant Girdlestone of the Mastertou llillos will act as Serjeant-Major while on active service, anu Color-Serjeant Hamilton of the Grevtown JiiHes will bo Color-Serjeant oi the combined Company. More leaving Masterton.Captain lluck promoted Corporal Hounslow to the grade of Sirjeaut, and Private Ward tu bo Corporal .-yilney Greenland, William Jones, Harper Lei'penmd John Lenson joined the Masterton Company in Wellington which now numbers 28 of all ranks, which will be increased'% one more when l'riva e Andrew who is absent in Nelson on family affairs joins them in Opunake. I forget to say that those who wished bail leave to stay out of barracks all r.ight as long as they turned up at 8 in the morning. Those who remained in barracks had no reason to com; lain of the Commissariat department, and I only hope it will remain as good when we get on the West Coast. L,\Ti:r,.

The men were paraded at 9 this morning' and drilled for about hull' an hour; we fall in again nt 12 o'clock to march down to the Hallway Wharf and emhark on the '! Hinemoa" which is supposed to sail nt 2 p.m.
