My personal views are well known to a large number of the requitionists, but now state ior the infermntion of other ratepayers that they arc emphatically mogres ive and at the same time free from hmklksbness. It will be my aim to assist in fostering such measures as will promote the substantial welfare and advancement of the Bnrougli so as to enable it to attain the position its natural advantages warrants, At the same time I will consider it my duty to counsel the ratepayers agaiust unmatured schemes for reckless borrowing and Expenditure, and willusemy best nndeavors to protect the Burgesses from being weighted down with excessive and bjidensome rates, In conclusion, I vwish to explain my feasons for not having taken part in local matters ere this, although having large interests in the Borough, I have not till now had leisure time at my disposal, and partly from not wishing to push myself forward to tho exolu3ion of other ganticmen who had prior claims on the suffrages of the I am. dro..
