The complimentary concert to Mr G. Palmer takes place in the Town Hall, Greytown, to-morrow evening, and not on Friday, as reported in our yesterday's issue,

Some uncertainty exists as to whether the usual quarterly review of the Wairarapa Volunteers, which was to be held in Greytown next lrontli, will take place, it being rumored that the Wairarapa men will be invited to join in a review to be held at the Unit on the Prince of Wales' Birthday. It such is the case, we feel sure our Volunteers will turn out. well, and then we hope to see the city corps return the visit on the occasion of the next review in the Wairarapa. The Hon the Defence Mimcter, approves of the formation of a cadet corps in connection with the Greytown Public School.

The usual monthly meeting of the Carterton Local Board lapsed on Monday. The last of the winter entertainments will take place at the Public Hall, Carterton, on Wednesday evening, commencing at 8 o'clock. Throughout the season they have been most successful, and the finale, which consists of vocal and instrumental selections, to conclude with the iarce of " Whitebait at Greenwich," should command a larger attendance, if possible, than any of its predecessors.

It was quite refreshing last evening to observe the beaming smile that rippled o'er the intelligent countenances of the Masterton Borough Councillors as the Cleric read the letter from the Clerk of County West, stating that the amount of the Borough's claim, with costs, had been paid into Court, as the Government had decided it could not vest the control of the Waipoua Bridge in the County Council. The Councillors looked as plaesed at their victory as though each had come in for a legacy.
