It will be my aim to assist in fostering mtk measures as will promote tho substantial welfare and advancement of tho Borough so as to enable it to attain the position its natural advantages warrants. I wish to explain my reasons for not having taken part in local matters ere this, are that although having large interests in the Borough, I havo not till now had leisure time at my disposal, and partly from not wishing to push myself forward to tho exclusion of other gontlcmen who had prior claims on the suffrages of the Burgesses.—l am, &c, _ M.
