FEATHERSTON RABBBIT TRUST.

A sixth meetixg of the Featherston Rabbit Trustees, was held at the Local Board Office on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Matthews (in the Chair\ Donald, Jackson and Wilkiiuon.

Tho minutes of the last meeting were re.id and confirmee!,

The following accounts were passed for payment:-J. Payton &. Co,, 12 10s; R, Wakelin k Co, £l3s 3d; D. C. Keir, Gs lOd ; J. W. Laimbeer, £8 Gs Bd,

A letter was then read from the Colonial Secretary, instructing the Trust to prepare a statement of Accounts in detail and to forward it with all other documents to Mr F. 6. Moore, Masterton. Relative to an expression re natural enemies of Rabbit, requested by Government, it was resolved—That in the opinion of this Trust it is absolutely necessary to introduce the natural enemies of the Rabbit, on account of the lar«e area of almost inaccessible Crown Land within this District.

Resolved that Captain Laimbeer be authorised to take all books and papers, and turn them over to Mr F. G. Mooore, Masterton, inspector's report. The following report was presentsd : I have the honor to submit the following report for the information of the Board : —On the 9(h Sept. I visited the properties of Messrs Cross and Wilkinson at Cross' Creek - . I found only one rabbit after a long search. I next visited the properties of Mr Jacob Gooding ; I found no rabbits. On the following day I visited the properties of Messrs France and Beckett, where I did not see a rabbit. I next visited the properties of Mr Alfred Matthews and Mr William Akers, but found no rabbits, On the 12th Sept. I visited the property of Mr Henry Eglinton on the Coast, also at Mokomo. On the following day I visited the property of Mr E. Riddiford, but found no rabbits at Oi'ongarotigo. On the Ist October 1 served notices under sections 17 to 21 on the following persons:—Thomas Mills, Joseph Burns, Hon. W. Gisborne, Glar 1 - man Smith, B. 0. Smith, Charles Whre, Hon. J, Wilson, and S. Scott, all of Wellington; J. N. Wilson (Napier), Alfred Lucas (Upper Hutt), Donald McKenzic (Rangitikei), William E. Dive (Havelock). S. Vennell (Tanherenikuu), and Charles Worsley, W. Cundy, F. Faber, James Wallace, W. L. Lucena, William Nicola, William Phillips, Josh Vile, and William Toogood (agent for Major Boll,) John W. Laimbeer, Inspector. treasurer's report, I have the honor to report that the credit balance at tho Bank of New ZeaZealand on this date is Ml 6s 11 The total amount of rates now collected and paid into the Bank of Now Zealand on this date is M 9s 4d; and the amoun outstanding of rates uncollected, 10s sd, James Donald, Treasurer.
