At the requisition represents so very large and influential a section of the Burgesses of Masterton I havo much pleasure in acceding to it, and if elected I promise to do my duty to tho best of my ability without fear or favor, and to work in unissn with the Councillors for the good of the whole borough and to conduct the deliberations of the Council with propriety. My personal views are well known to a large number of the requitionists, but nowstate for the iufcrmation of other ratepayer? that they arc emphatically moores-ive and at the came tima fhee most recklessness. It will he my aim to assist in fostering such measures as will promote the substantial welfare and advancement of the Borough so as to enable it to attain the position its natural advantages warrants. At the same time I will tonsider it my duty to counsel tlic ratepayers against unmatured nchemes for reckless borrowing and expenditure, and will use my best endeavors, to protect the Burgesses from being weighted down with excessive and burdensome rates. t; In conclusion. I wish to explaip my reasons for not having taken part in local matters era this, are that although having large interests in tho Borough, I have not till now had leisure time at my disposal, and partly from not wishing to push myself forward to tho exclusion of other gentlemen who had prior claims on the suffrages of the Burgesses.—l am, &e., AUBICEVILIiELIME can be obtained M.
