On Monday morning Mr H. Booth adjudicated on a complaint laid agftiust William Hooper, jtmr., for a breach of the Impounding Act by making an excessive cliargo for trespass fees. Prom the sworn evidenco of the defendant it appeared that four calves had broken into his garden, which was fenced in, and done considerable damage. He had given noiice to the owner, who, tailing to remove them, he had them impounded. The complaint was dismissed, and the trespass fees, which had been paid under protest, directed to be paid over to the defendant. The poundkeeper, who had laid the complaint, was present, but the parties whose calves had been impounded were not in attendance.

We trust thi Greytown Working Men's Club may bi as successful in the future, as it has beet in the past. Now that Greytown has a residen Constable we hope there will not be i repetition of such a scene as was witnes sed not far from the Post Office of tha to'vnsnip on Saturday afternoon.
