Mr Mr Coleman Phillips' residence not being convenient to intending subscribers to the Jewish Belief Fund, Mr M. Caselberg will in future receive contributions at both his Greytown and Masterton stores. As the list closes for the November mail, subscribers are invited to forward the amount of their subscriptions.
Next Monday evening one of the best programmes of the season will be presented at the cricketers' entertainment to be given at the Institute, Greytown. Among others will be a quintette by the " Udy" family, a duet, cornet and piano by Mr Hollard and Mrs Knell, and a selection of songs, readings &c. We nnder'tand that this will be the last but one of the cricket series, and hope it will be well patronised.

The " Conditions for trout fishing in Wellington" appeared in yesterday's " Gazette' 1 the regulations having come into forco on the Ist instant. Licenses will he granted to fish with rod and line witli artificial flies only as bait, in the river Hutt and its tributaries except the Paknratahi and in the river Wainui-o-mata such licenses to remain in force until the 30th March 1882 and to be obtained from the Secretary ot the Acclimatisation Society on payment <>f a fee of twentv shillings. Trout not exceeding eight inches in length must be immediately returned alive to the water and for neglect of this, or for fishing without a license, offenders when caught will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £2O. Any person using live bait, ground bait, net or other engine, instrument or device for taking fish in any river or stream within the provincial district of Wellington will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £'so.
The following letter has been received liv Mr Renall:—Railway Department, Head Office, Wellington, Sept 30, 1881. 1 Sir—With reference to the petition forwarded by yourself on behalf of various residents of Mastevton, wherein the attention af the Government is called to certain matters connocted with the Masterton and Wellington railway, I am directed by the Hon, the Acting' Minister for Public Works to state, in reply, that he has giren the matters his careful attention. As to the question of' tariff, he regrets that, taking into consideration the cost of working the line, the Government would not be justified in making any general reductions in the direction sought for, but such modifications in the rates will be introduced from time to time, as experience in working proves to be desirable. A lirsl meeting of creditors in the estate o( Thomas Scholes, of Bideford, Wairarapn, was convened for 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, The debtor's liabilities amount to £66 13s lOd, being composed of the following items:—Turnbull, Smith &Co., £34 12b lOd; W. ft 6. Turnbull &Co £l9 Is; M. Caselberg (Masterton) £9; D. F. M'Oarthy (do), £A. The assets amount to £95 of which the sum of 140 represent the estimated value of book debts, £ls the .stock in-trade, and M) household furniture, &c.
It is 'a fact that Messrs Gardener and ,Son sold last season more sheep shears than the whole of the Wairarapa storekeepers combined,'and this season it is their intention to offer the 100 dozen pairs which they have imported at less than Wellington wholesale prices. We cannot understand how this well-known firm sell all their goods so wonderfully cheap Their stock is splendidly assorted.and we would call special attention to their magnificent stock of drapery, which surpasses any we have yet seen in the Wairarapa.
