[From Hansard] The Hon' • Mr Whitaker, in moving; the second reading of this Bill, explained that its object waa to enable the trustees to convey;the land described in the schedule, and then to borrow a certain sum of money. Tlie Act which had already been passed did not effect the object intended, and this Bill was brought in for the purpose of supplying the (Uficiencj.
The Hon. Mr. Waterhouse would like to know whether.this Bill met with the concurrence of the persons in the locality immediately,interested in the matter. He had heard a.rumour that it did not do so, and that there was some division of opinion on the subject. The Hon,. Mr. Whitaker believed there was soiie division of opinion on the subject, but he was not very well acquainted with theioircumstances of the case, and he had expected the Hon, Mr Phanzyn would be present to afford the necessary information. However, if the Bill were now reada second time, lie would commu-, nicate with' that honorable gentleman, and state the result of his inquiries on the Bill going into Committee. ; • Bill read a second time.
