PIGEON MATCH.

A pigeon match came off yesterday on the Opaki, The birds were very strong and'consequently the slaughter was not so groat as might hara hoen exoected, Tho entries were £1 each, first prize L 5, second L2, There were soven members, four pigeons to each shoatre. The following are the scores :

After the shooting was over a good couning contest took place among the greyhounds present, about 30 rabbits being killed in good style. The skill of the dogs at leapers was also tested, the rabbits being released on the opposite side of a fence, the hounds taking the obstruction in a splendid manner. Altor gether a very enjoyable afternoon's sport took place, and the promoters intend to have anotlfer day in about a fortnight, when 200 pigeons will be provided far , the marksmen. ' [
