DREADFUL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

EXCITEMENT CONCERNING GARFIELD.

As tho train was proceeding along the main line in Kentucky a bridge collapsed, precipitating the train many feet below. The carriages were smashed to matchwood, seven passengers were killed aud many injured. Several were scalded by steun from the engine. Garfield's condition is very precarious still.

Very great excitement prevails in Washington through the attempted assassination of the man named Mason who is guarding the prisoner Gintean, the man who shot the President. The people wish to lynch Gintean at once, but the guard bravely defended his prisoner, and was himself attacked, but was not much injured.
