Sir,—l have the honour to submit tin following brief report on the Public Work of the Wairarapa East County. Blairlogieroad—The earthwork on M Price's contract on the Blairlogie road, i nearly completed. The slips that hav occurred on the part of the road pre viously formed are numerous and o considerable extent. The overseer e'sb mates the cost of removing the slips am putting in a few extra culverts which an urgently required, at M). Mr Price offeri to execute the works for i>79 Gb. Part o the tiinberreqnired for the culverts on Mi Price's contract is delivered at Kaumingi This timber will be carted to itsrequirec position on the Blairlogie road as soon a; the roads are fit for traffic. Hurunuiorangi Fender Piles,—The Hurunuiorangi fender piles with the exceptionofthe iron nose pieceß for twe groups of piles, were completed on the 23rd day of last July, and • on or about the 26th day of the 6ame month, one of the groups was carried away during a flood, I visited the ground oh Thursday last but could not ascertain whether the piles were washed out or broken off, but I am of opinion that they were broken off, Mr McLachlan who superintended 'th'j driving of thece piles reports that one o the piles composing the group was driver 18 feet into the ground, and the other t< a little over 19 feet into the eroundi ';; Ihave.'&c, ' "'.'
