FIRING.
The second competition for the cup presented to the Masterton Rifle Volun-: teers by Captain Ruck took place yesterday, The firing was much better than on the previous occasion when E. Kibblewhite was top sctre, the weather being greatly in favor of accurate shooting. Private Anketell secured the highest place in this match, principally owing to a maguificent score of 19 out of a possible' 20 at tho 600 yardß range. There'were four scores of 46. but the tie is decided by the best score at the longest range. As the cup has to be won twice consecutively or three times at intervals, it may ba yet some time before iVbecomea the sole property of any of the members. Subjoined are tho full scores;—
