£1607 4 5 A copy of revised rules recommended by the committee was laid before the meeting and .adopted.. The alterations effected by them were the amalgamation of the general Committee with the House Committee and the Chairman of the amalgamaed Committee being elected by its : membeTs.

On |the motion of Mr Payton Messrs Bennett, Vile,. Perry,, Smith, lams, Renall, Boddington, Moore, and the mover, were elected a Committee for the ensuih? year. "

Mr jDalrymplQ expressed at\ opinion that it would be better to elect the comraittee for a term of three years, bne ft. third of them to' retire annually. He • thought that under such a mode of election new blood would be introduced into tlie management, whereas under the present system the; old committee were elected en masse. '

Mr Pay ton pointed'out that Mr Dal- \ rymple's proposal would restrict rather than extend the privilege of subscribers. Under'the presetit ! system they could eleot 2? membersiin'' three years, 'under Mr DAlrymple'i proposal they would only elect 9;in that period, The foot that no new names were proposed, simply indicated -that subscribers were satisfied with the present manangement,! ; j The \ Chairman.] thought Mr Payton's argument carried the greater weight. The subscribers could turn oit the whole of the nine member 1 if they disapproved of them next year, biit under Mr Dairy mole's proposal they pould not get rid of three out of the nine for the next threi years. Mr Dayton was re-elected Treasurer and \ Messrs* Dalrymple and 1 ' Sellar were eleoted auditors,. It was decided that a sum of ( three' guineas should - be'paii to 1 the auditors for , their services. , , ;This!conoluded : the business. ! '' '
