Falloon, jjf - fiiiclosing an orderon the Board by John Bayies in his favor for £lll6a 6d, and asking for ' payment; from the clerk of .the Featherston Highway. Board, enclosing the sum of iGO, vote to assist in completing a track from Upper to Lower Paiiaua; from Engineer to Featherston Board, enclosing tracing of bridle-track: memorial from ratepayers and others in the Manaia district, calling the Board's' attention to the fact that the road tracing past Mr Wiiliainson's property was encroached upon by the erection of a fence thereon, ; and a large quantity ot stones having been laid down thereon. The Engineer's report wa9 given in and read. Mr Buchanan reported that he had perused the Act giving power to stop persons passing'along roads with wheels with narrow , tiers, and found that it did not give power, to. County Councils to do so, yet it was his opinion that tf applicator Government was made, tlie. power ■ would be granted. '. RESOLUTIONS PASSED. . That Mr Bremner be instructed to make enquiry as to fence said to be erected on the road at Manaia, and stones luid down there.—That the proprietors of the Star be informed that, as a small portion of the Board's income can be devoted to printing' and advertising, they cannot afford to advertise in two papers.—That Mr Chamberlain be requested to ascertain if Mr C. McLachlan gave his consent to a road being laid off through sections 12 and 16, Opaki, and that the clerk ascertain when the Crown grants of such sections mature.—That Mr Falloon be informed that John Davies had been paid all the money the Board was owing him some time ago.—That the Featherston Highway Board be informed that this Board have learned that Mr D. Cameron had sold his interest in the Pahaua station, it will now be necessary, before paying the S.GO granted for a bridle track from Upper to Lower Pahaua, to ascertain if Mr J. Cameron wishes the track continued, it being understood that portions of it would be very dangerous to travel on. —That Mr Bremner be instructed to get a number of culverts put in on the Tewhiti line of road.—That when the Engineer is doing the work at Mr J. Moore's, he at same time make a survey for formation of a piece of road at Mr Uhatwin's, and that Mr Vullance, the warden, be asked to accompany him to the spot.—That the clerk write and acknowledge receipt of Mr Kebble's letter, and inform him that at present the wards account is considerably overdrawn, and the Board cannot thenfore expend any amount on the work applied for by him, or at all ovents until the issue of the application for the constitution of a new ward is known.—That the Engineer and ' \Mr Caselberg again meet and give an estimate of the expense of stopping the overflow of the Rumahunga river on to Mr Caselberg's property at Te-ore-ore, and on the Clerk receiving this report he inform the West County Council of the estimated expense, and ask them to grant a sum to assist in erecting works to stop the overflow.—That the Chairman be requested to see Mr John Morrison, relative to the roads that were made previous to selling his property at Opaki, and thereafter consult the Board's solicitor regarding the same. That the Chairman communicate with the Cashpoint Highway Board, with a view to joint action in forming that portion of tho Uriti line of road, lying between the Mungapakia and the Waiiiora. That in order to facilitate land under the/' Land Transfer Act," it is desirable that the Engineer to tho Board take out a licenso under the Act. That tho Chairman recommend to the Chairman of the County Council that the County.Engineer take out a similar qualification. That Mr Bremner be instructed to attend to Mr Stuckey's application for a track through Brandon's clearing, fit for draytraffic. That the Clerk write to Mr Williams and ackowledge receipt of his letter, re account for culverts, and inform him that as the Ward's account in which his property is situated is mucli overdrawn the Board cannot pay the account forwarded.
