Board should support it—lt was re- " ; .solvedto acknowledge receipt of the'com- .; . munication, and in the meantime to ■ . examino the proposed boundaries. '.,' A communication was then read from A. Bunny, Esq;, re road to Dr Hosking's : '■' property.' The Chairman explained that he had advised Dr Hosking, to arrange ; ' about the land required for the road with the owner. i ..., , . . , Applications for roads were received . from Messrs Cave Bros., J. Rutkerfurd, and W. C. Cuff. 'The Clerk was instructed to reply, stating that the Board had already expended a considerable amount in that Ward,' and at present had no funds available for further works, but would at- - tend to the matter as soon as possible, Messrs Caselberg & Co. wrote renewing their offer to give 130, towards river pro- . tective works at Te Ore Ore. The Board 'decided to again communicate with Mr Thompson on the subject, and if he were ■ willing to contribute a like sum the work should be gone on with. Tenders.

The engineer was instructed to attend to the matter as . .soon as practicable. Mr J. C. Vallance applied for leave to plants willows along tho banks of the Kaumingi river, to prevent the river from washing away its banks. Board would givo MO an acre for twenty chains for a hall chain road leading to Mr MoLachlah's property. The engineer and Mr Chamberlain wero /authorised to drain a piece of swamp on ■/ths road leading to Mr McLachlau's property. Mr D. Cameron waited upon the Board and stated that the Featherston Highway Board had expended 1130 in making a bridle track from Upper to Lower Pahaua.
