F. H. WOOD & CO.'S SALE AT CARTERTON.

Thebe were about 100 persons present at. the above sale yesterday, at the Pastoral Association's yards, Carterton, but bidding was not at all spirited, In additiontoMr D. MoMaster's purebred cattle, therewere several other lines for disposal, but as they had not been entered in time for advertising but few sales were effected. This was particularly the case in sheep, of. which 1 there were some first-class specimens on

the ground, including prize Eomney Marsh rams, but not a Bingle head sold. There was no demand for horseflesh, one animal bringing the magnificent sum of People, too, did not seem inclined to give fancy—or even average—prices for purebred stock, a really splendid young bull, British Flag, being passed in at the owner's bid of £IOO, the only other offer being Lls. Black gelding, Rangitikei, J. M. Boyle, chesnut gelding by Kakapo, unbroken. Dunning, S,i ss; draught colt by Colstock, 4 years, unbroken, G. M. Boyle, 15; bay mare Topio by Southern Chief Tavantalla by Ravensdown, Sinclair, JIO; two-year-old colt by Nanakia-Croppy, unbroken, J. Ray, LB. Dr Smith had two horses sold, one of which brought LI and the other L 6. There were several other entries of horses, but sales could not be effected. , Me Clifton's Stobe Cattle.
