POLICE COURT.
CARTERTON, WEDNESDAY,

W. Pbilpot v R. and J. Greeks—Breach of Destitute Persons' Act, The defendants _ were charged with neglecting or refusing to contribute towards the support of their invalid sister, they being alleged to be iu a position to do so. The case was allowed to stand over for 14 days, with a view to the parties coming to some arrangement iu the matter. Augustina Sage v Charles Sage.—Assault. This case was of a serious nature, the assault having been a most severe and brutal one, committed by the defendant on his wife. The parties are both middleaged and have grown up children. A medical certificate, was handed into Court shewing that the complainant was not sufficiently recovered to appear, not being able to leave her bed.
The defendant was remanded for eight days..
C. H, Zabell v R. Crawford,-Rescuing horses when being driven to the pound. The plaintiff failed to prove his case, and the information was dismissed.
There were several, small debt cases, some of which were paid into Court, others settled, aud judgment given for plaintiffs in remainder.
