The, CommTttee were mously of opinion tliat such, a- change would not be beneficial to the wbool, which has much increased in numbers and the Chairman was requested to com. mumcate with the -Board fe that effect The same evening a meeting of sub. soribers to the Public Library was held for he purpose of electing a committee for the ensuing year, the following were ele<rted:-Messra,.B.;MaunßellIbA 1 b A J. was- instructed to furnish the Secretary (Mr Benton) with'a monthly report of books missing or mutUated. The meeting then adjourned to Saturday, March'l2th, at-7.80 p.rn,, toreoeive a deputation from Lnstlepoint on the subject of'the branch library. In connection with the late school treat, a report has got about that the prizes for the young men's race were taken fromtho school treat fund. This is quite false, as Tani in a position testate that the prizes in question were given by Messrs Mackay and Perry. It seems a pity that such remarks should be made, and especially in this case as the winners of the race were old pupils of the school. On Sunday afternoon tho Rev W. E. Paige held service here, but, owing to the dreadful weather which prevailed, the attendance was very limited. This is much to be regretted, as it was Mr Paige's first visit to this district, and many were looking, forward to the opportunity of welcoming him.' '.";.'
