RABBIT MEETING.

A combined meeting of Trustees of the' Wainuioru and-Otaraia Rabbit Diatriots TO held at Quin's Hotel, Greytown, on Friday, the 28th inst, —Messrs Beethara, Martin. Moore, Phillips, Pain, Harris, and Smith.

'' After the minutes of the last meeting had been read ond confirmed, Mr Phijlips was elected to the chair, ! and explained, prior to taking into consideration the applications for the appointment of Inspector—which was the special business before the meeting,—that he understood the trustees of the Awhea Kabbit District were desirous of joining with the Otaraia Trustees in the appointment of one Inspector for the two districts, and had made a proposal to this effect (correspondence read). To this communication a reply had been sent, stating that the Otaraia Trustees did not wish to disturb the arrangement already entered into with the Wainuioru Trustees, And expressing a desire that the three districts should act conjointly in the direction indicated. No further communidation had passed, but it was believed the question would be considered at the next meeting of the Awhea Trustees.

The applications,. 12 in number, were then considered. Amongst them was one from the late Inspector, who explained that having been offered an appointment which would considerably improve his position he had been induced to send in his resignation, But in the meantime the property he undertook the charge of had changed hands, and he was now in a position to offer Jiis Beryices again to the 'Trustees.

Several of the Trustees having expressed themselves as highly satisfied with the efficient manner, .in .whigh the late Inspector Jiad carried out his duties, th'ff following resolution j proposed by: Mr W. Smith, seconded by.Mr Beetham, was carried i-That Mr J. % Smith' ft reappointed Inspector of the Wainuioru and Otaraia Rabbit Districts, subject to the confirmation of eaoji separate Board of Trustees. The salary to icontinue oil its present basis unless the Awhea District pins with the Wainuioru and Otaraia Districts-when' the {alary would be increased in proportion to the acreage, lhree month?' notice' to terminate the arrangement to be given on' either side The fojlowing resolution, proposed'by Mr Phillips, seconded by Mr Moore, was subsequently put and carried That the Wainuioru and Otaraia Trustees would be pleased if the Awhea District joined those Districts, and availed itself of the services of their Inspector. ' ' - The meeting then adjourned sine die,

Present—Messrs Beetham (in the. chair), Moore, and The minutes of the-hit meeting having been read and confirmed the Secretary reported:that the, proceeding!i against Wi, Mahupuku. had . been withdrawn on certain conditions, The following resolutions were' then passed:— That Mr H.
