Armstrong letter, to state that the,(colt Ijfikau waß e-itered by the owner, Mr Adam Armstrong, in his own name, and was fully described as .such in any list or notice published by me as secretary/ The purchaser of the race besides erroneously stating the value of the Hurdle Race at L2O, instead of L 25, omitted the initial letter of Mr' Adam Armstrong's first name—an accident considered important enough by Mr Ralph R. In the year 1866 it pasßed "into the hands of Mb Jamkß Smith, the present proprietor, who gave to the premises the appropriate name of Te Aio House, and under "whose management bnsintea has steadily progiessed with the rising fortunes of,the cjty. until at length it was found that a considerable enlargement was necessary, and the result was, Te Aro House, as at present, cne of the most' complete and Extensive Dii'peiy Establishments in the. colony of New Zea'and. The General Drapery occupies a large tpace, being 49 feet by.25 feet, amply sufficient for. all Manchester goods, Fancy Dreise 1 !, Silks, Gloves, . Hosiery, Ribbons. Laces, &C. The Men's, Boy's, and Youths' Clothing Department measures 24 feet by 14 feet, and has attached a comfortable fitting-room. Carpets and Hofeboldy|> furnishings have a similar space allotted t6 fclieui. 'The Show-room for the sale of Millinery, Mantles, Jackets, Costumes, &c., is a very spacious apartment, .elegantly fitted up, and beautifully lighted from the roof, and measures 39 feet by 22 feet. The stock of goods is at all times large and well selected, and patterns, are forwarded post free on application. A special feature at Te Aro House is the Order Department, and very careful attention is paid to the wants of Country Residents.
