Herald learn' from a correspondent that a letter was received by the last mail, respecting Mr Clarke, from'the Rev J. Godfrey, Baptist minister, Bullwcll, Notts, from which the following is an extract:—" Tsawin a copy of the Weekly News, by this.mail that it had been rumorod in Melbourne that the Rev Charles Clarke had joined the Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Clarke was educated in the same collego as mysolf, though six years earlier. He is now living here at Nottingham. .1 have been on the platform with him twice recently. He has had no pastoral charge since - his return from Australia, because he is in such request as a special preacher and leoturer. He had had an invitation to .settle, and, probably, will accept one by and by, but for the present he is a member of the Rev W. Wood's church, George-street, Notts." .
