The extent of land under cultivation in the year 1879-80 in South Australia was ,2,270,655ac're5-'and-tne-'tbtaU-yield of 'grain crops for the year was as follows . Wheat, 14,270,965 bushels, or 9 bushels 46'ftk per acre; barley, 202,176 bushels, or 13 ): bushels 19 .lbs. per acre ; oats 61,818 bushels, or 15 bushels 1 lb. per aero. The areas occupied by these Crops were respectively-Wheat,' i,458,096 acre, or rib, less that 152,245 acres in excess of 1878 y barley, 15,107 acres, or an increase of 3018 acres: oats 4117, or an increase of 1186 acres. In peas there was adecliiie of 270.ac.res in the extent of land under cultivationj the total for the year being 8863 acres. 1 The potato crop amounted to 27,8g2 tons gathering from 7320 acres,; in each case an increase upon the return for the preyions-year
