CORRESPONDENCE FROM TENUI RE CRICKET.
[To the Editor of the Wairarapa Daily.] Sir,—ln the Wairarapa Standard of November 20,1 notice " Whareama correspondent " to that paper gives the public the reverse of a correct impression (if any impreasion can be gathered from ill-spelt" twaddle) of "some cricketing which ' occurred'" at Tenui. As a matter of fact, the two matches played between the Tenui club and the Shearers passed off in an exceedingly quiet manner; the truth of which can be verified by numbers of people who were on-lookers at the time,' and who doubtless are aware, how the cricketing "eventuated." Unkind people say that about the time of the said matches , the worthy correspondent had not recovered from a plethora of festivity that " eventuated " not 100 miles from Castlepoint, and that, consequently, he saw things in other than a clear light. This is no doubt au exaggerlittle playful hyperbole—the truth being that the individual is of a Quixotic temperament, and must perforce tilt at various illusions. The dictionary in which the gentleman found the word " prevade" is evidently a curio, and worthy a place in a museum. In conclusion, I hope the correspondent to the Standard will, for the future, have just a little more regard for the correctness of things, and not dish up garbled fulsome rot, with the evident intention of throwing discredit on one of the few institutions that conduce to the amusement of the district. lam, &c,, A MEMRER OP THE CLUB.
