In the year 1866 it parsed jnto the hands of Mk James Smith, the present proprietor who gave to the premises the appropriate name of Te Aro House, and under whose management basiutss haa Bteadily progreased with the rising fortunes of the city until at length it was fouud to fie a considerable enlargement was necessary, and tho result was, To Aro Houao, as at present, one of the most completo and Extensive Drapery Establishments in tho colony of New Zealand. The General Drapery oocu. iPies a large space, being 4!> feet by 25 feet amply sufficient for all Manchester goads 'Fancy Dresses, Silks, Gloves, Hosiery, .gibbons, Laces, &o. The Men's, Hoy's, and Youths' Clothing Department measures 42 feet by 14 feet, and has attached a comfitable «tting-room, Carpets and Household, nnniahmgs have a similar space allied to them. The Show-room for the sa'e of Millinery, Mantles, Jackets, Costumes, &c, is a very spacious apartment, elegantly fitted up, and beautifully Lighted from the roof, ar.d measures 33 feet by 22 feet. The stock of goods is at. all times largo ami well selected, and patterns are forwarded post tree on application.
