DIOCESAN SYNOD.

The adjourned meeting of the Synod 1 was hold at 7.30 last evening. Present' The President, Clergy: Archdeacon ' Stock, Archdeacon Thorpe, Rov W. B Harvey, Rev A. Towgood, Rev. J. Jones, : Hov, A. Dasent, Rev. T. Fancourt, Rev. ' W. Ballaoliey, Rev, H. V. White, Rev ' 0. D. DeCaatro, Rev. 0. H. S. Nichols, , Rev. R. Coffey. Laity : Messrs W. H. ■ Quick, Dr Spratt, B, Hunter, W. A. France, J. A. Plummer, C. D, Barraud, " W. H. Levin', Captain Hewitt, Colonel Leckie, J. E Brown, G. VV. Williams, 1 C. Rous-Marten, |D. Porter, 0, P. Pmvles, J. E. Smith, C. F. Allen, G. 1 Didsbury, and E, W. Lowe, Moved by tho Clerical Seretary, and seoonded by the Lay Secretary, leave having been obtained to suspend Standing Order No, 20, to move, without previous notice, the following motion That the thanks of tho Synod be given' to Mr Parker, organist, of St. Pauls, and to the choir of St. Peter's St. Pauls, St, Mark's and of the Church-room, Tina'kori road, for their services at St. Paul's Cathedral, October 19th, 1880, at the Diocesan Synod service.—Carried. Archdeacon Stook read ;the report of the Standing Committee, the folance sheets of the Pension Fund, of the Pension Fund Capital Act, of the Endowment Fund, of the Melanesian Mission, and the Revision Report of the Standing Committee of the acts and resolutions of the Synod, He also, gave notice that he would move for the adoption and printing in the Synod of the above reports and balance sheets, and also that he would move that the Synod go into committee on the revision report. Archdeacon Thorpe read the report of the General Church Fund, and asked that it might be printed. Consent given, : Mr Powles read the balance-sheet of the lato Diocesan Fund, and balance-sheet of tho General Church Fund, and list of promised subscriptions and sums given to tho General Church Fund, and the report of tho Diocesan Board Trustees, • and balance-sheet of of tho Board. He" also gave notice that he would move for the adoption and printing af the balance-sheets of the Diocesan Fund, General Church | Fund, and Diocesan Board of Trustees. Moved by Mr Didsbury, seconded by Rev 0, H, S. Nicholla.—That a Printing Committee be appointed, with power to print in the report of the Syond such matter as may be ordered to be printed, or may seem to them to bedesiaable to be printed, from papers, reports, or other documents laid on the table, and with power to cofirm the minutes of the last day's session, to consist of the Right Rev the President, the Yen Archdeacon Stock, Rev B. W. Harvey, and Mr Didsbury.— Cavried.

The President declined to put the motion of Mr Rous-Marten,-That on the next sitting day tlio Synod do take into consideration the President's address. Moved by Mr Rous-Marten, seconded by Archdeacon Stock,—That leave be given to introduce a Bill to amend Act IV., by adding an interpretation clause to define the word " communicant" for the purposes of that Act. Carried, and Bill read a first time. Notices of motion were given 'by Mr Rous-Msrten, Archdeacon ' Stock, .Mr Allen, and tlio Synod then adjourned.
