MASTERTON RABBIT DISTRICT.
A meeting of the Trustees of the above district was held oh Saturday,'the 10th inst. Present—Messrs Stuckey (in the chair) Hood, Cave, and .Holmes, An apology was made for the absence of Mr Welch who was unable to attend. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The correspondence and Inspector's report were Iread, The Inspector reported verbally that since receiving notice, Mr Whitcher had been doing his utmost to reduce the rabbits on his property, and also that the poison laid on the islands in the Waingawa had been fairly successful, considering the dryness of the season. [Tho report will appear in next issue], The secretary was instructed to write to the Colonial Secretary, stating that the Trustees had been to considerable expense in laying poison on Government land aud asking the Government whether it was their intention to pay rates on such land this year.
The following resolutions were passed after discussion That proceedings be taken agaiust Mr Tuck for failing to take efficient steps to destroy the rabbits on his land at Raugitumau after due notice to do so.
That the solicitor, Mr Bunny, be instructed to take proceedings forthwith against all defaulting ratepayers. That the phosphorus and oil of rhodium be made up by next meeting. That it be an instruction to the Inspector to take immediate proceedings against all landowners who, afler due notice, fail to take efficient steps to destroy the rabbits on their property The meeting then adjourned till Saturday, the Cth November, at 11 a.lll.
