We understand the gifts are boni iide, and that no deception can take place in the drawing, and the value of the articles is all that iB stated. Those who feel inclined for a dance at the close of the performance will be able to indulge, as'the flail will be cleared for that purpose. Mr Harry Lyston also favors the audience with a few of his musical gems. A good lecturer will be found in the person of Mr J. E. Nia?, and the performance of Mr C. Sinclair as a pianist is also spoken highly of. The prices of admission have been fixed low to enable everyone to have an evening's enjoyment.
A special meeting of North Wairarapa Benevolent Society was held yesterday, Present—the Rev J, McKee, (in the chair), Mrs Hacker, Mrs Gapper, Dr Beard, and J, Paylon. Mr Paytou moved a resolution in favor of winding up the Society, as there wero not a sufficient number of cases of distress to justify them in keeping it m operation, The Rev J, MoKee opposed the resolution, • He instanced one case which at the present time demanded consideration. The Society would be of advantage in cases of emergency, ana he feared that when the unemployed were discharged by the Government, it would be found that fresh cases would arise. Mr Paytou, in reply, expressed an opinion, that the case instanced oy Mr McKee, was not a proper ohefor relief. The resolution was put to Hi'if meeting and lost. Mrs Gapper, Dr Beard, and the chairman voted against it, and Mrs Hacker, and Mr Payton, for it. It was, however, decided to discontinue the ordinary monthly meetings of the Society

A meeting of the Committee of the combined Friendly Societies was held at the Council Chambers last evening, Mr J. B. Corbett in tho Chair.
