UNCLAIMED DIVIDENDS IN BANKRUPTCY.
The British Comptroller in Bankruptcy, in his recently issued report, estimates the undistributed assets and unclaimed dividends at about £5,000,000. These vast accumulations have risen chiefly from the supineness of. creditors. By clause 46 of the Bankruptcy Amendment Bill this cession, it is proposed to collect theße funds on behalf of the Crown, so that if creditors do not. bestir themselves an immense "Crown 1 windfall" will result. It seems only fair that, before such a collection on behalf of the Crown takes place every) possible effort should be made io trace, the creditors or their representatives interested in then funds; and'it has been suggested that their names and addresses, with the amounts, awaiting distribution; in eaoh case, be published, in the: leading, newspapers. Many-thousands.' of "persons would'thua be largely benefitted) and] by. omitting from the'lists all -sums under £5, as ; not worth the expense of recovery, the cost of advertising would be defrayed,—Home paper.
