APPEAL ON BEHALF OF TWO LITTLE ORPHANS.

(From the New Zealand Freemason.) ' It strikes us forcibly that a mere glance at the above heading cannot but awaken feelings of sympathy in the hearts of our readers—that no true Mason would permit the word orphan to pass unheeded, and we have every confidence that the case now claiming the notice of our brethren will receive the fullest favorable consideration from the majority of them without a moment's unnecessary delay. In our last issue we drew attention to the melancholy fact that our lately-departed Bro. John Kelleher had left two young children unprovided for, but now fuller particulars have reached us, in circular form, issued by Bros. W. M. Sims, W.M. of St. John's Lodge, and T. Turnbull, R.W.M. of Caledonian Lodge, and we again embrace the opportunity of referring to to the "case, In this circular, every necessary particular- respecting our late brother's career, from the date of his first joining the fraternity, about thirteen years ago, to the time of the funeral, as well as information respecting his family, is set forth, and we are exceedingly sorry that want of space compels us to defer the publication of the statements until our next issue. It is only needful, however, to make known that the poor little orphans—a boy and a girl, aged respectively about nine and six years—require pecuniary assistance, to arouse the kindly feelings of our brethren, and we anticipate with pleasure the rapid filling of the subscription lists, in a most substantial manner, by New Zealand Freemasons, who will not overlook the fact that one of their duties is to wipe away the orphans' tears, and that two little children have become dependent upon them—not only for sustenance, but for a preparation to enable the youthful creatures to take their parts successfully in the " battle of life."
