Sir,—lt is now one year since we left the Old Country to try our fortunes in the Colonies, and nine mquths since we commenced business in Carterton. On commencement, our chances of success appeared very small, the spirit of Opposition was very great; the ruling prices in Carterton went down in one short week amazingly, owing to our determination to sell cheap. At the end of one month the way our business increased was surprising. The reasons are: Our customers are treated with civility, they, find they can get all they require (without the usual thing in Carterton, viz,! every second or third article asked for," We don't keep it"); they also find our goods, not only cheapest through being imported direct, but also the very best through being well selected. Our goods were also bought for cash during the great depression at Home, which is the result of our defying competition. This (Autumn & Winter) season we have received our second importation (per ship Caroline) of good useful Grocery, Drapery, Millinery, Guns and Ammunition, We now respectfully invite an inspection of. our splendid now stock, which will bear comparison with any iu the Wairarapa, Wishing your newspaper all the success it deserves, We remaiu, Your truly, B.
