The new Representation Bill contains provisions for dividing the Wairarapa into two districts and Wellington into three, with one member each, The country district will probably get a slice of the West Coast to get the proper population, Nelson leses two members; all the others remain as they are, except Canterbury and Otago, which gain seven. Only one district will have more than one member. The number of European members is thus raised to 90. At a meeting of the Benevolent Society it was stated that men who went to the Wairarapa rabbit hunting were earning £3 to £4 weekly. Gladstone is reported seriously ill, but recovering.
