T Sir,—lt is now one year since we left the Old Country to try our fortunes in the Colonies, and nine months since we commenced business in Carterton. On commencement, our chances of success appeared very small, the spirit of Opposition was very groat; the ruling prices in Carterton went down in one short week amazingly, owing to our determination to sell cheap. The reasons are: Our customers are treated with civility, they find tlioy can get all tliey require (without the usual thing in Carterton, viz.: every second or third- article asked for," We don't keep it"); they also find our goods, not only cheapest through being imported direct, but also the very best through being well selected. Our goods were also bought for cash during the great depression at Home, which is the result of our defying competition, . This (Autumn & Winter) season we have received our second importation (per ship, Caroline) of good useful' Grocery, Drapery; Millinery, Guns and Ammunition.
