THE LICENSING COURT AT TINUI.

To the Editor of the Wairarata Daily, Sib,—The Licensing Court at Tinui certainly has not the welfare of the district, or the convenience of the public at heart when.refusing Mr Nathan's application for a license for the Tinui Hotel. The house erected on the site of the original hotel is quite commodious enough for the requirements of the place during the winter. There is quite as much room in it'as there was when Mr Miller was first granted a licence some years ago for the old premises. At any rate, a mediumsized house is better than none. Objection was also taken to Mr Nathan's application on the ground of non-residence- It seems strange and absurd that a man must reside in his own public house nolens volens, Msny first-class houses are conducted by managers in other parts of the world, and why not in this " Little Peddlington,"Tinui? In a few days there will be no licensed house at all at Tinui. Travellers from Masterton will have to paßs from Taueru to Whakataki without the chance of refreshment for themselves or horaes. If some of the old ladies comprising the bench had to travel the country a little more, they would perhaps have mora consideration for the comfort of the I travelling public. Query? Does it ever i strike these Solons that in refusing the J licence at Tinui that a strong tjmptatj#i is being held out for illicit liquor traffic 1 I am, Ac., Proorehs
