THE folltiwiug resolution was passed at a meeting of the Masterton Highway Board held on the 20th inst "That the 25th clause of the Impounding Act, 1874 be brought into force in this district," which is as follows: " It shall be lawful for the occupier of auy land adjoining any public highway to impound in the neareßt public pound any cattle which may be found wandering at large in bucli public highway, and any cattle so impounded shall be dealt with in the samo manner as cattle impounded under the provisions of this Act. Providing always that the provisions of this section shall only apply to roads in respect of which any Highway Board may have passed a resolution as provided in the Ninetieth Section of tho Highways Act, 1874.
