Siß,-Inypuriss'ue of 'the 18th inst.,. appears a' letter, signed'." To'the Editor of the Watbabapa Daiw, ■ _SiR,r-A movenieiit has 'been on foot in . ' this township for some time, originated, I believe, ..by. Mr R. W.. I. Carver, to form a Choral Society.' main drawbacks to. this are, I hear, that theforraer one ooi-. lapsed in debt, arid the now Society, be-' fore commenoingj would have to pay one of the inemberß of the old Sooiely, and a valuable auxilary to this movement, some £ls before they .could procure his servioesV Now, Sir, I do not see why the debts of the old Society should interfere . with the formation of a new one; I think , it Bhows .a deoided apathy on the part of townsfolk.not to organise something of the sort; or at least "penny readings,"' during the long .winter' evenings' nowcoraing'on; • What. I should suggest to" Y the promoters of the movement .is that if - 's£ there is a difficulty in procuring- talent :'?■ why not get the different ohoirs of our' • " churches to join into one Society, and I am sure there is plenty of talent amongst '" them to form a very good Ohoral Sbdiety, P I may say the movement has;, been inau/ gurated in other-small- townships, bus. with decided success. •>•-.-• lam, &c, .
