CARTERTON.
(mom our own correspondent) January 14,1880, It has been raining a soft but steady rain all day, which lias completely stopped the treat to the Carterton school children. I understand that plate laying on the Greytown Branch Line will commence on Wednesday, and that tenders will shortly be invited for the station, goods shed, and buildings. Mr Haigh is about to erect a substantial two-storied house and butcher's shop adjoining the little place now in his occupation, and when the new edifice is erected, the present one will be used for small goods only.
