GREYTOWN HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of Committee was held on Tuesday. Present—Messrs Brooks, Bock, Barnard, Kempton, and the Secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Secretary reported the receipts from last Show us follows Entries, £3 16s; Special prizes, 15s; taken at door, £2O Is (id; lottery, £3l2s; tickets, £l4; £42 5s 6d. The Treasurer reported cash in bank £35 4s (id, and in hands of Secretary £2 18s. Total £3B Is 6d, Balance due on tickets, £42 5s 6d. Ihe list of prizetakers was read, showing an amount of £lB 15s, exclusive of special prizes. Accounts ware received from the following:—D. BaiTatt, £llOs;R Wakeli", £ll Cs 9.1; JT. H. Wood, 193 8d ; 1. W. Brahms, £3 15s; Payton & Co., £1 6s; Secretary, £2 14 3 gd. It was resolved on the motion of Mr W, G. Beard, seconded by Mr Brooks—That the accounts as read lie passed. Resolved that prizes be paid by cheque and cash,
Resolved that a unanimous vote of thanks be passed to the Greytown private band and the judges for their services at the late Show, and also to the ladies and stewards.
Ihe special prize for mapping gained by W. iuiell, and presented by Mr. W. J, Salmon, consisted of 2 vols of" Through the Dark Continent " by Stanley. Young Knell is to bo complimented upon winning the best prize at the Greytown Spring Horticultural Show.
After some other routine business the meeting adjourned until the last Saturday ill January.
