(To the Editor of the Wairarapa Daily)

Sir—Your late issues have contained a long advertisement on the Second Coming of our Lord Je3us Christ, with a notice that addresses on the subject would be given at Carterton by Mr J. M, Gaitley Whether Mr Gaitley is a real or imaginary person I leave to others to determine, my only object being to correct an impression that prevails that the Christians resident at Carterton, and known as " Brethren," are responsible for the advertisement and the promised addresses on the subject named, That the truth of the Lord's second coming and the translation of the saints is held and taught by " Brethren," is well known and fully admitted, but that they have directly or indirectly sanctioned a wicked hoax, and 4 thus brought truly "solemn ahd-hater matter" into ridicule is emphatically aqf nifd. I would just add that" Brethrenl , are not in the practice of drawing public* attention to themselves or the truths they hold in the columns of a newspaper, being well content to leave their a use in the hands of Him who will judge righteously and reward openly those who, in these " last and perilous times" seek to be obedient to His word and wait patiently for His coming, I am, &c, One of the "Brethren,"
