THE TARATAHI OUTRAGE.

To tho Editor of the Wairarafa Dailt. y&gfiP Sir—Permit me through the medium of your columns to communicate a few words to the honored publicum. Supposing a man walking his way between two flourishing townships is met by four strangers, and on passing them peacefully and unsuspiciously is violently thrown to the ground, Ilia faco covered, his feet tied, and then subjected to a most brutal and unparalleled outrage committed in broad daylight, as was the case with me some weeks ago, and as soon as the excitement on the public mind has faded away no further interest seems to be taken in the matter beyond those vague reports as to to that party or another being the culprits. If somebody knows anything about it why in heaven's name does he not give information to the police. Four weeks has lapsed since the crime occurred, and no trace whatever seems as yet to have been obtained, and the public mind is growing averse to my suffering. No aid in any form is riven to me, no sympathy except from my own countrymen, who, however, are too poor to render any material assistance. Another opinion is, I hear, gradually getting hold amongst tho people—that I liavo injured myself purposely in order to arouse pity. In answer to this most absurd report I can only say it moat likely might have origi nated from that person or party who have reason to cast off all suspicion off themselves. My humble thanks, sir, if you will insert tho above.—l am, etc., Marten Jorgensen Busch,
