CASTLE POINT HIGHWAY BOARD.
* ■ A meeting of the Board was held at the Public Hall, Tinui on Saturday last. Pre-sent-Messrs Butters (Chairman), Bellis, Groves and Greenland. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported the balance in bank £1232 6s Id and balance available for future expenditure £538. The overseer's report and wages bill were read and passed. Correspondence. Letter from Mr Morrison re clearing the slips off the cutting near his house.— From Mr Maunsell re repairing the Tinui Valley road.-From Mr G. Drummond. stating that dray traffic had been stopped down Cripp's Creek through the boundary fence being erected, and requesting that something migh'i be done to enable Mr Morrison to get his wool out—From Mr Mackay, requesting to be informed if the road applied for by the Rev J. C. Andrew had been surveyed, and if so, had the Board taken steps to proclaim it a public road—From the same, complaining of the inefficient manner in which the" repairs had been executed on the Uriti line. From Mr Armstrong re survey of road from Ohonga to Akitio.—From Mr Langdon re Local Elections Act being brought into force.-From Mr Darby requesting a few planks to erect a temporary bridge over the Tinui river.—From Mr Paneti re laying off roads.-From Mr Baker resigning his appointment. Tender. Mr Stillborn, for metalling, at £3 18s per chain—declined, Defaulting Ratepayers. The Clerk was instructed to take immediate action against defaulting ratepayers. Resolved.
That the sum of £5 be expended on clearing slips off the cutting near Mr Morrison's house.-That £8 he expended on repairs in theTinui Valley road. —That Mr Drummond's application be considered at next meeting the wai den being absent. -That the Chairman be requested to take the necessary steps to have the Local Elections Act brought into force in this district.-That the Clerk reply to Mr Mackny, giving him the information asked for.—That the Clerk inform Mr Darby that the overseer would give him the planks necessary forr'he bridge.—That the formation of the road from Holmes' bridge to the junction on the Castle Point road be commenced forthwith, The Secretary was directed to procure a stamp for the use of the Board. Mr Baker's resignation was accented conditionally. Mr Groves handed in his resignation as warden for No 2 Ward, which was accepted, and the Clerk was instructed to call a meeting of ratepayers to elect a warden in his place, also to advertise for a competent man to take charge of the road works, The next meeting was fixed for Bth proximo,
