MASTERTON HIGHWAY BOARD.
I A special meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last, I Present: Messrs Bennett (chairman), Buchanan, Donald, and Beetham. The minutes of the previous meeting ivere read and confirmed. The folio wring correspondence was likewise read Letter from Clerk of West County Council, enclosing copy of resolution passed, stating that no further advances or the present would be made, as the County finances would not admit of them One from Mr Pharazyn, forwarding award by lum and Mr Beetham statin' the amount to be paid over to No, 5 Ward out of the funds of No. 0 Ward Telegram from Mr Beetham as to payEd 68 (IUC by Government Mr Bennett reported that he had been lequested by the Hospital Committee to ask liberty to remove a bridge on the road near the Hospital, and to erect a large strong culvert in its stead. RESOLUTIONS, That in consequence of the withdrawal 3t the subsidies for the maintenance of the main road, MrMcKenzie be instructed to discharge all the men employed thereon, lliat the Hospital Committee have power to remove the bridge on the road near the Hospital and erect a culvert, and that the Board grant a sum of £5 to assist,
That the chairman see Mr Vallancc and learn if he is willing to keep the road passing through his property open durinc the wool season. In the event of his doing so the Board would undertake to make a fresh cutting, PAYMENTS. Messrs Payton and Co., printing £9 0 3 WairarapaStandard 2 5 0 W, Cullen, advance on contract, No. 5 Ward 20 0 0 M. MclCenzie, compensation for land 47 j9 Q Next meeting Ist November, at 11 a,m,
