CARTERTON
(from our own correspondent) October 3rd, The funeral of the late Mr Booth, sen., took place -yesterday. A cortege of about 200 people, amongst whom I recognized denizens from all parts of the Valley, followed the remains to their last resting place, A meeting of the Licensed Victuallers of the district took place on Tuesday, at Mr Giles' Royal Oak Hotel. The meeting was ultimately adjourned until Monday next. The Tavatahi-Carterton Highway-Hoard held their monthly meeting on Tuesday last. No business of any importance was transacted. The Horse Parade was held on the Pastoral Society's grounds to-day, something under a hundred people being present. Thehorses in the ring were DRAUGHT-Pride.oi Canterbury, Dainty Davy, and Samson. BtooD-Dauebury, Kingfisher Premier, and Ananias. After the Parade, Mr Wood offered Sir William Wallace and a Barbarian two-year-old colt for sale, but. both were bought in.
