WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the sub-committee appointed at the general meeting to arrange for the holding of Horse Parades and the Annual Show, took place on Saturday afternoon. Present Messrs F, G, Mooro (in the
chair), J. Drummond, B. Boys, L. Nix, andH. McMaster. The minutes of the provious meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary reported that His Excellency the Governor had consented to become the Patron of the Society, but that no reply had, to date, been received from tlio Wanganui, Hufct, and Hawke'a Bay Societies, as to the date 3 on which their respective shows would be held. The Secretary was directed to advertise for tenders for letting the show grounds of the Society for a period of twelve calendar months, subject to conditions to be ascertained, on application to him, and also to pay the rates due to the TaratahiCarterton Highway Board, in respect of the show ground. The sum of £8 8s was handed in by Mr Nix, being subscriptions from the following members of the Society; J, Fenton,£s ss; A, Clifton, £1 Is; L. Nix', £1 Is: R Moore, £1 Is.
The Secretary, on discussion, was directed insert a preliminary advertisement in the public papers, stating that Horse Parades would be held during the coming season, under the auspices of the Society. The Secretary was further directed to write to the President and others as to private prizes to be offered for competition at the Annual Show. The date for holding the latter was on discussion, pending the receipt of replies from the Wanganui, Hutt, and Hawke's Bay Societies, adjourned until next meeting. The Committee then adjourned until Saturday the 13th inst.
