{To the Editor of th<■ WaivJAHAPA Daily Sib —I shall foel obliged by your publishing the following letter which I have sent to tho Standard, so as to expose as fully as possible this most underhand attempt to injure nie.—l am, Ac., G. Piiabazyn. To the Editor of the Standard. Sin—Mr Cape Williamson's latter in your Saturday's issue ia quite beneath my notice. I have no doubt that some of my friends will tal;e the trouble to show that I was right in my statement as to the " caricature." With" regard to Mr Williamson's insinuation that I withheld his copy, I can only Bay I put it in your letter-box (no one being in the oiftce) within an hour of receiving it (in ths presence, I think, of Mr floleman Phillips) from him. T can only express regret that you should repay my act of courtesy in delivering it by publishing the letter, and adding a note which appears to confirm the insinuation made. A cause which requires to be supported by a itch tactics as this must be indeed ashaty ono. —lam, <£e., C. PiIAKAZYN. PAST SERVICER AND VOLUNTEERS LAND SCRIP.
Tu tin' Editor of lint Wajkauapa Daily, Sin, —Your coriespondent, "Another Ex- Volunteer," appears indignant that any recognition should bo made of the services rendered by Mr Bunny to the Volunteers or to the district. But if his patron, Mr Pharazyn, was tlie donor of the benefit referred to, wo would long since have seen flaming posters and circulars sent round to tfcc electors in every direction, magnifying hie services. This is'really sehiah and narrow minded on the part of your correspondent, after having received hiu scrip, to endeavor to throw cold water on the man wlio lias doi'C more benefit for tho electors and the district than any representative I know. " Honor to whom honor is due," and in this way I have been guided in giving my statement regarding the grant to the Volunteers. Further T think jour correspondent is in error in n taking that the Volunteer grant haft been brought before the electors at previous elections. Mr Bunny being always at the head of tho poll, and commanding h'.rge majorities, required no puffing, but now that there are several candi ! daten in the field a division of votes may not place him again in that proud position lie has held for more than fourteen years, warrants mo in publicly thanking liiru for the benefit he has conferred upoa me, and hundreds of my electors, not only in the Wairarapn, district but the province. Your correspondent, however, appears anxious to impress upon the electors the services of Mr Phnrazyn as Chairman of the County. Those services are indeed of short duration, and are not yet complete, when they arc, no doubt; at the next election of councillors for the County, the rat;payei\s will consider hia claim for reelection. No apolngy therefore exists for services rendered hy Mr Bunny to tlie district and the colony, and those by Mr Pharazyn for a short period to the County. I am. etc., A>' Ex-Vou XTEEIi.
