WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Socioty was held in Carterton, on Friday, the 22nd inst. Present ; C. Pharazyn, Esq. (in the chair), and, Messrs W. 0. Buchanan, E H. Beetham, Nix, Strang, H. Braithwaite, P. G. Moore, W. Booth juii., and J. Drummond. Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, A letter was read from Mr J. Bennett, apologizing for his absence. Applications for the office of Secretary to the Society were opened and discussed. None of the applicants being considered eligible, Mesßrs Booth, Moore, and Buchanan were appointed a sub-committee to select a Secretary. The following resolutions were then passed on discussion: (1) That it be an instruction to the Secretary tow rile immediately to the Committees of the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies in Wanganui, Hawke's Bay, and the Hutt, suggesting that judges' travelling expenses should b» fixed on a modified and uniform scale, viz., that £5 should be the allowance in each case, and informing them that the Canterbury Association had reduced the judges' travelling allowances to that amount, (2) That a show be held early in November next, the date to be fixed after communicating with the Hutt, Hawke's Bay, and Wanganui Societies as to the dates on which their respective shows are to be held, (3) The following gentlemen were elected a subCommittee to make arrangements for the holding of Horse Parades and the Annual Show during the current year, viz,,W, 0. Buchanan, F, G. Moore, Burton Boys, H, Braithwaite, L, Nix, H, McMaster, and J. Dr jmmond, with power to add to their number, three to form a quorum, to whom was also left the decision of the question of what prizes should be offered at the forthcoming show. The sub-Com-mittee appointed for that purpose having reported that they had selected Mr E, E, E, Edmunds as Secretary, that gentleman was appointed to the office,
