THE COMING ELECTION.
To the Editor of the Wairaiupa Daily Sir,--As you were'kind enough to associate ray name, with others, as a probafcle candidate in the coming electoral contest, and as my private business prevents my sparing the necessary time for undertaking anymore public work than to that which I have at present to attend, I shall feel oblignd by you allowing me definitely to state that I have no intention of becoming a candidate. I trust my fellow electors will return the independent and trustworthy representative!/ who will work together in all matters, for the good of the district, and the good of the Colony. As the question of a County Rate is likely soon to engage our attention, and as I believe such a rate to be unnecessary, and unjust/I trust that my fellow elector* will carefully note any remarks made by the two Chairmen of our County Councils, Messrs Beetham and Pharazyn upon this subject. Two better representatives, specially interested in the district aud all its wants, I do not think we shall find, lam&e., Commas Phillips, Dry River, August 12th.
