The Erst Examination for seven Solid ships, tenable for two years, offered by Education Board, will be held simultaneously in the School Art Boom, Athcnamm Buildings, and in the Institute Grcytown, on WEDNESDAY, the 27th instant, at 10 a.mThe examination is open to all boys, whether they are receiving their instructions in Public Schools or not, under 15 years of ago on the first day of August inst. The names of all intending competitors should he forwarded to the Secrete y no later than the 20th inst, The scholarships are thus appropriated : open to all children attending any school in the City of Wellington. One snholarshib of £W annual value open to all children attending any school in the Wairarapa District. One Scholarship of £lO annual value, open to all children attending am? school in the Wellingtni Country District. too scholarships of £ls annual value and one scholarship of £lO animal value, open to all children in any school in the Wellington Education District. These scholarships arc given subject to diligence and good conduct on the part of the scholar, and to the regulations contained in the addendum to Clause 51 of " The Education Act, 1877," which reads as follows: "The succeslful competitor for any such Scholarship shall receive the amount of his or her Scholarship only so long as he or she shall continue bis or her education at any school or educational institution under the control of the Board at which the higher branches of education are taught, but, if there be no such school cr institution in the district where the holder of the Scholarship resides, then at such school, subject to inspection by a Public School Inspector, as the Board may approve of." The subjects of examination are those prescribed for Standard VI, by Order in Council, of date 24th September, 1878, but no Scholarships will lie awarded unless twothirds of the possible number of marks are obtained, By order of the Board, BOBEIIT LEE, Secretary.
