WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the above Society re held in the Club room of the Marquis of Normanby Hotel Carterton, yesterday. Present: C. Pliarazyn, Esq., (in the chair), and Messrs P. G. Moore, Burton Boys, G. H, lister-Kaye, H. and D. McMasters, J. Bennett, L. Nix, Rhodes Donald, J. Strang, F. S. H. Holmes, A, Armstrong, Drummond, Buchanan, H. Bunny, and Braithwaite.
The Secretary having read the minutes of the previous meeting, and the same having been confirmed, reported that, since the meeting in July last, the receipts received amounted to £125 18s. Accounts to the amount of £3B 4s. 3d. were then voticliered and directed to he paid, and it was resolved that the difference between the two amounts should be placed towards the reduction of the Society's liability with the bank.
The financial position of the Society was then fully discussed, and it was ultimately decided that the debentures remaining should be sold, and that Messrs Drummond and Moore should see Mr Wyllie of Masterton, as to their disposal, and as to canvassing for new subscribers, and generally taking action for promoting the welfare of the society, Failing the acceptance of the post by "Mr Wyllie, the above gentlemen were authorized to retain the services of some other efficient person for the purpose of promoting similar ends. It was unanimously resolved that the Society should be maintained in its integrity,
Directions were given to the Secretary to forward the certificates allotted to prize takers at the last show, and the following officers were then elected President: G. Pharazyn, Esq. ; Vice-president: G. Bcetham, Esq., M.H.It, Members of Committee in place of retiring and deceased members: Messrs Phillips, Nix, Holmes, J. Strang, Braitliwaite, Dudding, and Bunny. On the motion of the President it was resolved that his Fxcollency the Governor be respectfully requested to become the patron of the Society, A communication was read from Mr W. Booth jun., excusing his absence on the score of ill-health, and signifying his intention of taking up five debentures. The meeting then went into Committee and adjourned at five o'clock.
